Explore Parys
Explore Parys is a comprehensive website with everything and anything that you would need to know about the magnificent and very scenic little town of Parys.
Otavi Lion Park (Now Kimba Game Lodge)
Otavi Wildlife Sanctuary is situated 10km before Parys off the Highway (R59). The home to the King of the Jungle, set on a picturesque 110 hectare game farm, housing 26 Lions and 13 other species of animals. The lodge is known and loved for its affordability, comfort and hospitality. The predators are the nucleus of the family on Otavi followed closely by the staff, and all welcome visitors with warmth.
The Dell Cheetah Centre
The Dell Cheetah Centre is committed to conservation through education, breeding and reintroduction. We are a small non-profit organisation situated on the Farm Vaal Rock, approximately 10 km outside the town of Parys in the Free State province of South Africa. We are a small team, all of whom are passionate about cheetahs and we work tirelessly to try and save them from extinction.
Vredefort Dome World Heritage Site
he Dome lies close to the town of Parys, about 70mins drive south of Johannesburg. The Dome itself refers to the entire impact area of a meteorite that struck the areas around 2 billion years ago and not a specific site as some may see it. The Vredefort crater is the largest verified impact crater on Earth, more than 300 km across when it was formed. The impactor was estimated to have been some 12-20km across (almost twice the size of the one considered to have caused the dinosaur extinction) travelling at 10km/sec.
